Over 20 years of boat assistance

Since 2002, experience and organisation at the service of those who sail

Sailornet was founded to give boaters a professional point of reference in handling difficulties at sea. In over twenty years we have developed procedures, expertise and operational relationships used both by private owners and by leading insurance companies.

Our story

Sailornet was founded in 2002 to organise a service dedicated to assistance at sea. From the outset, the project focused on the ability to take a request, assess it correctly and coordinate the most suitable response through qualified operators.

The experience gained in the insurance market helped define rigorous operating procedures and centralised management of interventions. Today that expertise is available to boaters too, through three annual subscriptions designed for different cruising needs.

The Sailornet ecosystem

  1. Sailornet Operations Centre staff at their control monitors

    The Operations Centre

The Sailornet Operations Centre is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It takes assistance requests, gathers the information needed, checks the vessel’s position and coordinates the response network.

Operators follow the case for as long as the operation lasts, staying in contact with the customer and with whoever carries out the recovery. The availability of vessels, departure times and the way operations unfold depend on weather and sea conditions, on the authorisations required and on the local situation.

  2. A Sailornet crew member in a CREW tabard on the onboard radio

    The assistance network

Sailornet works with selected marine operators along the coasts of the Mediterranean. The network is activated by the Operations Centre according to the vessel’s position, the type of request and the conditions at the time.

Customers do not have to find an operator themselves: coordination is handled directly by Sailornet, under the terms of the subscription taken out.

    Experience with the insurance sector

For over twenty years Sailornet has supported major insurance companies in managing assistance at sea. That experience has shaped a way of working built on traceability, verified information and professional coordination of every operation.
